Knee operations...

Morning all,

Knee injuries seem to be in fashion recently. I am booked in for one at New Cross on Monday (torn cartilege), while Matt Murray's latest woes continued with another knee problem, poor sod.

With that in mind, I was thinking of players that have come back after knee operations all the worse for them, looking a shadow of their former selves.

From a Wolves perspective I would have to say: Michael Gilkes. I loved Gilksie when he first came, but after a knee problem, he was never the same IMO, and ultimately forgetful as a consequence. (think it was his knee)

Also, didn't Geoff Thomas have a bad one? Mind you, you could never tell if he was better or worse, as he was plagued by injuries throughout his time at the Mol.

John de Wolf? He was bloody brilliant in my eyes. Took a while to get into the speed of things but boy, when he did, he was phenomenal. Seem to recall Sunderland game at home when he was polaxed. (dirty Mackems)

And then there was Ade Williams. Shame he was crippled from the moment he joined, pretty much, only to move on to Reading and star for them for many seasons. Typical.

Any other players spring to mind? Other general injuries to hit us hard were: Daley, Froggy, Dean Richards, Chris Marsden.

On a national level, Shearer came back as good, if not better, and so too Roy Keane.

Wish me luck at New Cross on Monday!!
